What do we mean by the term "good work"?
As used in this program, "good work" refers to work that directly contributes to solving important social problems on the local, national or international level. The range of challenges is broad; it includes closing gaps in healthcare and education, securing our environment, helping people in need, working with youth, and increasing civic participation.
This "work" combines the spirit of service with the benefits typically associated with jobs, such as compensation, health and other benefits, structure and sense of purpose. Some form of financial support is necessary – the Award does not apply to work done on a purely volunteer basis.
