Accounting Manager

San Francisco, CA

Background

Civic Ventures, an innovative and influential national non-profit, seeks an exceptional Accounting Manager to join its finance department.

The Accounting Manager is a fulltime position and, under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and Administration, will serve as the department’s number two position - planning and directing primary accounting activities, including overseeing its day-to-day operations; supervising the monthly accounting cycle; and coordinating and preparing periodic financial reports, and internal and external audit materials. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the VP of Finance and Administration to develop accounting plans, procedures, and processes that maintain and strengthen the internal control framework, while improving operating efficiency throughout the organization.

The position directly supervises the work of a part-time A/P clerk and a staff accountant.

Civic Ventures work focuses on The Encore Career Campaign, a multi-year initiative that aims to define the decades between the end of midlife careers and true retirement as a time to do paid work for the greater good. The campaign involves research, analysis, partnerships, publications and communications. By accelerating the development of a new stage of paid work in fields with looming labor shortages – such as education, health care, the nonprofit sector and government work – Civic Ventures hopes to deliver the experience and energy of tens of millions of people now entering their 50s and 60s to help tackle society’s greatest challenges.
