"(An) inspiring, informative, mind-opening book."
    - The New York Times

"Marc Freedman is onto something big in Prime Time."
   - The San Francisco Chronicle Book Review, Editor's Recommendation

Prime Time includes stories and portraits by renowned photographers Alex Harris and Thomas Roma of people across the country serving as role models for continued contribution in later life.

These people are debunking the prevailing conception of "elderly," "senior citizens," and the "aged" – all terms that do a poor job describing the diverse group of people in the third stage of life.

The publication of Prime Time contributes to a new vision for later life that is a win-win situation for older adults and American society.

Marc Freedman, President of Civic Ventures, is the author of Prime Time: How Baby Boomers Will Revolutionize Retirement and Transform America, published by Public Affairs.

When Freedman first conceived of the book, it was as a response to the excessively narrow and overwhelmingly negative portrayal of America's aging, focused almost entirely on fiscal issues and the solvency of federal entitlement programs.

The goal of Prime Time is to expand the picture so that we become more aware of the potential opportunity present in the aging society, and to create new roles for older Americans to make their time, talent, and experience available for strengthening communities.

The transition to a next chapter can involve recycling, changing, or starting a career. A 30-year executive in advertising now teaches the subject at a local college. A Marine Corps brigadier general now runs an urban hunger relief program. An avid recreational biker now helps adults learn the importance of being active.
